The Experience
Your Daily Journey
Day 1 - The Long Scenic Drive and Arrival
Your guide picks you up early for the stunning drive deep into the valley. You will watch the landscape slowly change from thick green hills to sharp white peaks as we cross high mountain passes. We arrive in the late afternoon and settle into a warm, wooden family homestay. Spend your first evening drinking butter tea, meeting your hosts, and getting used to the total quiet of the valley.
Day 2 - River Walks and Ancient Monasteries
Wake up to the sound of the Yargyap Chu river. We spend the morning walking along the crystal clear water and crossing traditional hanging bridges woven by the locals. In the afternoon, we hike up the hill to the Samten Yongcha Monastery. You will sit with local monks, learn about their daily routines, and look out over the entire valley from one of the oldest spiritual sites in the region. We end the day with a hearty traditional meal cooked slowly over a wood fire.
Day 3 - Exploring the Villages and Departure
We keep your final morning completely relaxed. Walk through the local tribal villages to see how families live and thrive in this extreme climate. Sit on the porch of your homestay, drink one last cup of local tea, and just exist in the quiet. By midday, we pack up and drive back through the mountain passes, taking the peace of Mechuka back to the busy world.
